Malvales Discussion

One goal of the Phytoliths in the Flora of Ecuador project was to compare phytolith production/non-production in plant taxa studied during the project to the published literature, to investigate the level at which distinctive phytoliths were “universally” diagnostic. Pearsall explored this approach in 2008 by examining the Malvales.
